About the Design

Designed by Native Hawaiian wahine artist Kea Peters, the Loyal to the Soil Tee is a tribute to connection — to ʻāina, to lineage, and to the roots that sustain us.

This design features kalo, a plant central to Hawaiian identity and genealogy. Kalo is more than food; it represents the first ancestor, Hāloa — a reminder that caring for the land is caring for family. To be “loyal to the soil” is to honor that bond — to nurture what nourishes us and remain grounded in gratitude and respect.

At Kākou Collective, we tell stories of place through art. This design speaks to the deep relationship between people and ʻāina — a commitment to stay rooted, to give back, and to grow with purpose.
