This coaster was inspired by local lei stands, where strands of lei hang for customers to enjoy and purchase for various special occasions.
Puakenikenimeans ten-cent flower,puameaning "flower" andkenikenimeaning "ten cents." Its name is derived from the early 1900's when visitors arrived by boat, and one could purchase Lei Puakenikeni for 10 cents.
