Lei Mikioi Art Print
Mikioi: Dainty and neat in craftsmanship, or in doing anything; excellently made, as result of workmanship.
Mikioi is a twisted kui style lei inspired by lei found hanging in lei stands, ready to be gifted and worn for special occasions. Lei is a symbol of aloha and can be given as a symbol of love, friendship, to celebrate, or even honor someone. This lei is strung with pīkake and loke. Although both flowers are not native to Hawaiʻi, they are local favorites. Kui: To string pierced objects, as flowers in a lei.
Matted Prints are giclée prints produced with archival inks on acid-free paper to ensure print permanence. All matted prints include an archival back mat so they are protected and ready to frame. To fit standard sizing and allow for easy framing, slight cropping from the original may occur.
From the Artist
This lei was created for Kaʻiu - a wonderful wahine that has done so much for me as an artist, human being, and for Kākou Collective. Pīkake is a favorite of hers and pink is her class color (she is also an alumna of Kamehameha). It truly is a Kākou thing over here.
