Workshop Description
Join Keoua Nelsen, an 8th-generation lauhala weaver, to learn the art of creating a barreled lauhala bracelet paired with matching earrings. A favored design, the mauna, will be taught in honor of the vital role Mauna play as life-giving watersheds. From its peaks flow the wai that sustains our loʻi, our forests, and our families. It is the source of clouds, rain, and rivers; a reservoir of life that feeds the land and spirit alike.
In Hawaiian thought, the mauna is more than a landscape — it is an ancestor, a guardian, and a provider.
By weaving this design, we give tribute to the mountain’s steadfast presence and its essential role in the rhythm of our daily lives.
