About the Design

Designed by Native Hawaiian wahine artist Kea Peters, the Ferns of Hawaiʻi Tee celebrates the lush diversity and quiet resilience of Hawaiʻi’s native and endemic ferns — plants that thrive in the shade of our forests and remind us that strength can grow softly.

Each fern — ʻIhiʻihi Kahakaha, Kupukupu, Kumuniu, Palapalai, ʻUlei, Palaʻā, Peʻahi, ʻIhiʻihilauākea, and Hāpuʻu — is illustrated with intention and care, reflecting the artist’s deep connection to ʻāina and commitment to cultural education through art.

This design honors Hawaiʻi’s forests and the stories they hold, inviting you to wear a piece of the ʻāina with pride.
