Block Printing Workshop
Join Native Hawaiian wahine artist Kea Peters of Kākou Collective for a hands-on block printing workshop where you’ll learn the full process of creating your own prints—from concept to final impression. In celebration of Native Hawaiian Plant Month, this class will center around plants of Hawaiʻi, offering a space to slow down, observe, and translate these forms into your own original design.
You’ll be guided step-by-step through transferring your design, carving your block, and printing your final piece. This workshop is designed to build a strong foundation in block printing, giving you the skills and confidence to continue creating on your own.
Not sure where to start with drawing? Original artwork by Kea will be available for you to work from, so you can focus on learning the process.
Each participant will receive a complete block printing starter set to use during class and take home (a $42.99 value).
This is a more in-depth learning experience compared to our Block Print Party. Instead of using pre-made blocks, you’ll create and carve your own design, learning the full process from start to finish.
We provide (included in your take-home kit* + class use):
- Hard brayer*
- Lino handle and cutters*
- Speedy-Carve relief carving rubber (4” x 6”)*
- Black and white fabric ink*
- Step-by-step instruction and guidance
- Design transfer materials
- Print project materials
Optional:
If you’d like to carve your own original artwork, feel free to bring a design with you. We recommend keeping your design simple and within a 4” x 6” area to fit the block and allow enough time to complete your carving during class.
All skill levels welcome. No experience necessary. All workshop tickets are final sale and non-refundable.
