Curious about making lei but not sure where to begin?

Join us for a hands-on hilo-style lei workshop — no experience needed! In this workshop, you'll learn to make a lei lāʻī (ti leaf lei) using the traditional hilo (twist) technique, and create a lāʻī rosette with local lei maker Kahi Keyes of Kaleipu'upu'u. We’ll cover the basics of hilo, then explore ways to vary the scale, incorporate color, and work with different materials to make your lei uniquely yours.

WHY KĀKOU?

When we say "it's a Kākou Thing," we're expressing our belief that everything we create, teach, and share is a beautiful collaboration of community effort.

This mindset guides all we do, from our artwork to our workshops, reminding us to move with mindfulness and understanding that our creative ripples touch not just those beside us, but our entire community. It's about recognizing that when we create together, learn together, and grow together, we elevate everyone - even those we haven't met yet.

Testimonials

★★★★★

I love that the [puakenikeni] lei design catches everyone's eye, and I love telling them about this local artist when they ask. It's not just a sticker - it's a durable piece of art that brings a touch of aloha to my everyday items. Definitely getting more to add to my collection!

I absolutely love my lei wrap sticker from Kākou Collective! It's been on my water bottle through beach days, hikes, and countless washes, and it still looks as beautiful as the day I put it on.

Been using lei wrap stickers on my laptop and water bottle for over a year now and I'm amazed at how well it's held up! The vinyl quality is top-notch - no fading or peeling even with daily use. But what I love most is how Kea captured the lei in such a beautiful way. These stickers are the perfect blend of beauty and durability!
