About the Design
Designed by Native Hawaiian wahine artist Kea Peters, the Lei Flowers of Hawaiʻi Tee celebrates the flowers woven into Hawaiʻi’s lei-making traditions — each one carrying fragrance, memory, and connection.
This grid-style design features a mix of native and introduced blooms that have each found a place in Hawaiʻi’s collective story. Introduced species: pua kenikeni, stephanotis (pua male), pakalana, ʻawapuhi melemele, pua kalaunu, pikake, kupaloke (rose), and pua melia (plumeria). Endemic species: ʻōhiʻa lehua. While not all are native, each plays a role in how we express love, gratitude, and belonging through lei.
At Kākou Collective, we tell stories of place through art. This design honors the evolving landscape of lei-making in Hawaiʻi — a blend of roots, relationships, and resilience that continues to bloom.
