Aloha everyone!
If you haven’t been tuning into our Instagram, then you may have missed our BIG news… (drumroll please!) … We did a collaboration with Zippy’s and E Ho‘opili Mai! It was such an honor to work with these two local powerhouses and we can’t think of a better way to kick of Ka Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i (Native Hawaiian Language Month).
Our keiki (kids) menu was a joint effort and we are so happy with how it turned out! It’s chock full of fun activities that promote incorporating ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i into our everyday language. You can even learn the names of your favorite Zippy’s menu items in Hawaiian!
This collaboration was especially near and dear to our hearts because Zippy’s is an iconic multi-generational gathering place for so many of us local people. We’ve all grown up with our own special Zippy’s memory. Whether it was getting a delicious snack after practice or staying up late with friends laughing over a plate of chicken katsu, Zippy’s has always been there to supply us with ‘ono (delicious) grindz. Their eclectic menu is reflective of the melting pot that is Hawaii, and it’s so special to go to one restaurant and be able to enjoy highlights from such a wide variety of cultures.
Zippy’s support of local businesses, artists, and Native Hawaiian culture is just another example of why it’s such a stellar mainstay for us locals. Mahalo to Zippy’s and Kumu Kahanuola Solatorio of E Ho‘opili Mai for all the work that went into this collaboration! We love that our keiki are growing up with ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i around them – even while ordering their favorite Pā Zip (Zip Pac)!
For more ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i fun, check out Zippys.com/olelo. There are links to ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i language classes, (held at Zippy’s locations of course so you can get something ‘ono to munch on afterwards), as well as several free online classes! *Psst – look closely and see if you can spot Kākou Collective’s artwork!
Stay tuned for more Ka Mahina ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i news, and make sure you’re subscribed to our Hap-E-Mail list so you never miss an update about our pop-up events and new drops!
A hui hou! (Until next time)
