Lā ʻEkolu (Day Three): Countdown to the New Year reflection series!

It is Lā ʻEkolu (Day Three) of our Countdown to the New Year reflection series! In case you missed it, for the last five days of 2023, we will take a moment each day to reflect on some of our proudest and most fulfilling memories of 2023!

Today, we are reflecting on our mea. This past year had Kākou Collective expanding into new categories left and right! We strive to focus on growing our small business one product at a time, and we’re so happy to report that you all seem to love our new merch as much as we do!

In the summer of 2023, we debuted our microfiber towels. We are so stoked on these towels because not only are they super functional (sand-free and lightweight?? Umm hello perfect beach accessory!) but they’re made out of Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (RPET). RPET is awesome – each towel is created from recycled plastic bottles which are removed from an at-risk coastline! So cool!

We also delved deeper into the world of apparel. This year brought new T-shirt designs, keiki clothing, and dry-fit tops into our shop. We’ve loved working with another Native Hawaiian-owned business to do the printing for our clothing! It’s so fun to see our hui decked out in Kākou Collective gear.

Last but not least, in 2023 we introduced our cute totes! These durable canvas bags are nice and big and can hold alllll the things! Extra bonus: it makes us so happy to be able to bring a little of piece of art and aloha with us wherever we go!

Stay tuned for more fun memories as we continue our Countdown to the New Year reflection series tomorrow!

A hui hou! (Until next time)
